Mike Sheehan
Field of Expertise: Research-based
Sales and Marketing Services
Michael
Sheehan is second generation, Irish American, who grew up
in Lorain. After a successful career as a paperboy, he
found his first manufacturing job at the Lorain steel
factory. His father worked for Kraft Foods, and his mother
was a RN in the emergency room at St. Joe’s.
Being
one of seven children Mike grew up in survival mode.
Before going to college, he hitchhiked to San Francisco along
Route 66 for his dose of the Haights-Ashbury scene.
Hanging out awhile in San Francisco, he worked as a bell
captain at the Fairmont Hotel and took night classes at a
college near San Jose. Seeing Cleveland from two thousand miles
away, he came to appreciate her beauty and moved
back.
After
college, Mike continued working in manufacturing and moved to
Holmes County taking a position as a purchasing manager for a
cold steel milling company. Before starting his own marketing
venture, he completed his MBA at the University of Akron and
worked for a time at Penton Publishing where he met his wife,
Patty.
Mike
is a father, a friend, a youth CYO coach, and has been so for
more than fifteen years. Kids, now six feet plus warmly great,
"Mr. Sheehan". As a hobby, he enjoys engineering classes at
Lorain Community College, goes to Blues and Jazz concerts,
follows the Indians, and watches football games with friends at
the Lizard and yes; he has been known to enjoy a brew or
two.
Mike
looks conservative because he is. To his credit, he is a man of
distinction; he prefers to know the truth rather than be
right.
His
family is his focus. His oldest son, Patrick has a newborn Ohio
State football player, named, PJ. At eight months, he weighs in
as 2-year old toddler. And omigosh is he funny. His middle son,
Bobby joined the Marines last fall and has been vacationing at
Paris Island over the winter. His daughter, and the apple of
his eye, goes to Mags. When she’s not driving Mike’s car,
she works at Lakewood Hospital for good karma and gas. She
plans to go to med school after graduation. Murphy, the family
dog, got a new sweater for Christmas and is keeping his
fourteen-year-old bones warm and cozy.
Mike is a hard
detective to shake; he's is bent on understanding how it
works.
In
his words, “I don’t memorize well.” His passion for the truth
makes him a relentless researcher benchmarking
how thoughtful strategy helps organizations like
yours.
Generally
Mike works with companies with sales between $2.5 million to
$250 million. His strategy and sales programs result in
your sales team achieving increased revenues, greater market
penetration, with a stronger corporate identity.
Mike
is a results-oriented performer and a darn good writer. Oh,
yeah, did I forget to tell you he is history buff, and one of
those who remember all the numbers.
Mike's keen ability to comprehend and
articulate industrial processes makes him an exception choice
for any industrial manufacturer looking to promote
production.
Mike
holds a B.S. in Industrial Management and an M.B.A.
(Marketing), both from the University of Akron. His was an
editor at Penton and is the author of numerous industrial
brands, articles and papers on market development, marketing
communications and product management.
